No-slip No-chafe Thigh Highs

I turned my thigh-high leg warmers for Nora Valkyrie into tights, and I filmed it so you can do it too!

need...

  • thigh highs (or leggings, or boot covers, or another pair of tights, etc.)

  • dance tights (or leggings)

  • scissors

  • pins

  • preferably a serger. this might be possible using a stretch zigzag stitch on a regular machine.

also I apologize for the occasional terminology mix up, filmed this on the fly after work.

Iron on Appliqué with fleece

how to use heat n bond or other similar heat activated adhesive interfacings to appliqué on fleece.

Materials:

  • a double sided iron-on interfacing.

  • fleece

  • thread

tools:

  • scissors

  • iron with variable temperature settings

  • pressing cloth

  • ironing board

  • sewing machine or needle & thread

Cut out the desired shape in both the fleece and the interfacing. lay the fleece down on the ironing board, with the interfacing paper side up on top of it. give it a quick press. peel off the paper backing & trim any excess glue off. lay the appliqué glue side down onto the final piece. place presser cloth over and press gently. flip over onto back side and press a little longer to finish adhering appliqué piece to fabric. go ahead and finish it with any decorative stitching.

Tassel on Rope Trim

Here is a super sped up time lapse of how I put the tassels together for Ren.

Materials:

▶️ the rope you want to cap in tassels

▶️ existing tassels to destroy OR a skein or embroidery floss in a coordinating color

▶️ fabric glue (and preferably something to smooth it down, i used the other end of a seam ripper, just your finger is fine but messy)

▶️ scissors

Instructions:

I do use a lot of fabric glue and would recommend letting it fully dry between each step

1️⃣cut length of rope and seal off ends with fabric glue

2️⃣ take apart existing tassel OR grab a skein of embroidery floss in a matching color

3️⃣ split apart the rope and put half of the tassel through the opening, winding down till the bottom.

4️⃣ Use a little bit of glue to lay the strands so they cover the cut end of the rope

5️⃣ wind a thread around the threads just under where the rope ended. This creates the tassel. glue down for extra security.

6️⃣ trim the ends and done!
